Terms of sale
These terms govern every purchase made on this site. They are written to be read, not to be got past — where a right is limited, the limit is stated in the same paragraph as the right.

2. What we sell
We sell blank porcelain pieces and an engraving service applied to them. We do not sell finished decorated designs, and we do not sell any subscription, membership, stored balance or recurring plan of any kind. Every order is a single, one-off purchase.
All items are sold to consumers and to businesses. Where these terms give a right that applies only to consumers under Danish law — such as the right of withdrawal — that is stated in the relevant section.
3. How an order is formed
Products shown on this site are an invitation to buy, not an offer. Your order is an offer to buy. A binding contract comes into existence when we send you an order confirmation by email.
The order confirmation states the pieces ordered, the glaze, the engraving method, the exact text or artwork to be engraved, the quantity, the total price including moms, the delivery cost, the kiln your order is scheduled into, the estimated dispatch date, and the deadline until which you may cancel in full.
Check the engraving text in the confirmation carefully. That text is what we cut or print, character for character. If it is wrong, tell us before the cancellation deadline and we will change it at no cost.
4. Approval before firing
Every mark is reviewed by a person before anything enters a kiln. We check it against our engraving rules — principally that it is not someone else’s trade mark, logo, crest, emblem or copyright-protected work, and that it is lawful.
If we cannot approve a mark we email you the reason and offer either a change or a full refund, at your choice. No order enters the kiln queue in the meantime, and you are never charged for a rejected mark.
5. Prices and taxes
All prices on this site are in Danish kroner (DKK) and include 25% Danish moms. Delivery is charged separately and is shown in full before you confirm the order — it is never added afterwards.
The unit price falls with the number of pieces in a single order, according to the published quantity ladder on the prices page. This is a quantity discount within one order. It is not a membership, a loyalty scheme or a stored balance.
A sample order is charged at the piece price plus a DKK 120 sample fee. That fee is deducted in full from the total of the subsequent full order for the same piece and mark.
Orders of 48 pieces or more are quoted by hand through a trade enquiry. A quotation is valid for 30 days from the date we send it.
Where we show a previous price alongside a current one, the previous price is a price at which we actually offered that item on this site within the preceding six months. We do not run countdown offers or invented reference prices.
Deliveries outside the EU may attract import duties and local taxes on arrival. Those are payable by you and are outside our control.
6. Payment
Payment is taken once, when you confirm the order. There is no recurring charge, standing order or automatic renewal anywhere on this site.
The following payment methods are accepted at checkout:
- Visa
- Mastercard
- Dankort
- MobilePay
The whole site, including the payment step, is served over HTTPS. Card details are entered into and handled by a PCI DSS certified payment provider. Card numbers are never stored on our servers and we never see the full number.
Goods remain our property until payment has been received in full.
7. Delivery
We ship from Glostrup, Denmark. Delivery methods, costs, destinations and estimated transit times are set out on the delivery page.
Lead times on this site are estimates driven by the kiln schedule, not guarantees of an arrival date. Ceramics is fired in batches: a piece waits for the kiln it is scheduled into. When kilns fill — typically before Christmas and through the wedding season — dates move out, and we tell you when that happens rather than quietly missing a date.
Risk passes to you when the goods are handed to you or to someone you nominate. If a parcel arrives damaged, see section 9.
8. Cancellation and withdrawal
Unmarked blanks. A piece bought without engraving carries the full 14-day right of withdrawal under the Danish Forbrugeraftalelov. See the right of withdrawal page for the procedure and the standard withdrawal form.
Engraved and made-to-order pieces. Goods made to a consumer’s specification or clearly personalised fall outside the 14-day right of withdrawal. A piece carrying your mark cannot be sold to anyone else.
The cancellation window. You may cancel an engraved order in full, for a complete refund, at any time up to 24 hours before the kiln it is scheduled into is loaded. That deadline is shown in the configurator, in your cart, at checkout and in the order confirmation. Cancel by email or telephone; we confirm every cancellation in writing.
This does not limit your rights over faults. The withdrawal exception concerns changing your mind. It has no effect on your rights when something is wrong — see section 9.
9. Faults and complaints
Under the Danish Købelov you have two years from delivery to complain about a fault that was present when the goods were handed over. This right applies to engraved and personalised pieces on exactly the same terms as to plain ones, and it cannot be signed away.
Within that right, we repair, remake or refund where:
- a piece arrives broken or damaged in transit;
- the body or glaze is faulty;
- we engrave text that differs from the text in your order confirmation;
- we make the wrong specification, glaze or method;
- we send the wrong item.
Report transport damage within 7 days of delivery, with photographs of both the parcel and the piece. That timing helps us claim against the carrier; it does not shorten your two-year right.
Wear that follows from the properties of a method is not a fault. In particular, an on-glaze decal is a surface treatment and will gradually wear with repeated machine washing. We publish that, and photograph it, before you buy. See the right to complain page.
10. Tolerances and material behaviour
Dimensions and glaze colour vary by up to ±5% between pieces. Pinholing, speckle and slight colour movement in a fired glaze are characteristics of the material, not faults.
Microwave, dishwasher and oven suitability is stated per piece. Where a piece carries a metallic lustre finish it must never be used in a microwave, and that marking cannot be overridden anywhere in the ordering flow.
Avoid sudden temperature change. Ceramic can crack under thermal shock. Full guidance is on the materials and safety page.
11. Intellectual property
You confirm, when ordering, that you own the text or artwork you ask us to engrave or hold the right to use it. We check this again on our server before an order is created; an order submitted without that confirmation is refused.
You keep all rights in your own artwork. We use it only to produce your order. We do not use it for marketing, we do not publish it, and we do not use it to train any model. Files are held in private storage and deleted at the end of the retention period set out in the privacy policy.
The content of this site — text, photography and design — belongs to mk-ceramics ApS.
12. Liability
We are liable under the general rules of Danish law. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including your rights under the Købelov and the product liability rules.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as loss of profit or loss of an opportunity, arising from a delay in the kiln schedule.
13. Personal data
We process personal data as described in the privacy policy, under the GDPR and the Danish Databeskyttelseslov. Cookie use is set out in the cookie policy.
14. Disputes and governing law
These terms are governed by Danish law, and the Danish courts have jurisdiction. As a consumer you keep the protection of any mandatory rules of the country in which you are resident.
Contact us first — most things are settled that way. If we cannot agree, you can complain to Center for Klageløsning or the Forbrugerklagenævn, or use the EU online dispute resolution platform. Addresses and links are on the complaints page.
15. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The version that applies to your order is the version published when you placed it, and that version is reproduced in your order confirmation. Changes are never applied retrospectively.
